Description:
Dr. Sean Mulvanity, Director of Georgia Tech Research Institute, at Georgia Tech is coming to speak to the 4th grade students. The topic will be on Science Fair Experiments vs Science Projects. Science Fair Experiments are experiments that test a hypothesis.  Science Fair Experiments have titles like, "How does the starting temperature of water effect the time for water to reach boiling? There are many tests here. The water can start frozen, cold, cool, and room temperature. There are 4 tests. The results can be turned into a graph or chart. There is a paper and a backboard showing the parts of the project.

Science Projects explain some concept in science.  A Science Project title would be like, "What is the Water Cycle?" This is a demonstration or model of the water cycle. There is no test. There might be research and a peper, along with a backboard, but the critical difference is there is nothing tested.
